The American Geriatrics Society has chosen Nancy Lundebjerg as its next CEO.
Lundebjerg, 55, has served as the organization's COO since 2008, and she's been with AGS since 1998. She'll take over in the top post in April 2015, replacing Jennie Chin Hansen, who will step down after five years with AGS.
Before working at AGS, Lundebjerg was administrator of the Center for the Study of Society and Medicine at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. She also served as a Woodruff Scholar at the University of Hartford and as a fellow in the Office of Legislative Research of the Connecticut State Legislature.
Lundebjerg is a lead staff member involved in AGS' Geriatrics-for-Specialists Initiative, which raises awareness and knowledge among specialist physicians regarding the care of older adults. She serves as the founding co-convener of the Eldercare Workforce Alliance, which addresses the need for more workers in geriatrics care.
