The Cleveland Clinic Health System has named Dr. Adrienne Boissy as its next chief experience officer, a position that focuses on improving delivery of care.
Starting in January, Boissy, 40, will replace Dr. James Merlino, who left to become president and chief medical officer of Press Ganey's strategic consulting division.
Previously, Boissy was experience officer for the Cleveland Clinic's Neurological Institute, where she led the institute's Patient Advisory Council and developed programs that encouraged healthy physician-patient communication. She's also editor-in-chief of the Journal of Patient Experience.
Boissy is assistant clinical director of the Cleveland Clinic's Center for Neuroethics and has also served on its ethics committee.
Merlino, the outgoing chief experience officer, said Boissy's influence in building a physician communication training program and her involvement from the very beginning in Cleveland Clinic efforts to improve patient experience makes her an ideal candidate for this emerging title.
“She's become a national leader who knows how to drive better relationships between providers and patients,” he said.
