Kaiser Permanente, headquartered in Oakland, Calif., has appointed Julie Miller-Phipps president of Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Georgia, effective Nov. 3.
Miller-Phipps, 57, replaces Kerry Kohnen, who is retiring after about 40 years with Kaiser. Kaiser is the largest not-for-profit health insurer in Georgia, covering 240,000 people. Kaiser's Georgia branch is also aligned with Kaiser's Southeast Permanente Medical Group, one of the largest multispecialty groups with about 450 physicians.
Most recently, Miller-Phipps was the executive director of Kaiser Foundation Hospitals and Health Plan, a Kaiser subsidiary in Orange County, Calif., that has 23 medical offices and 480,000 policyholders. She has been with the $53 billion integrated healthcare delivery system for more than 30 years.
“With Julie's leadership and the dedication of our employees and physicians—in Georgia and throughout the organization—we will continue to enhance the high-quality, 21st century healthcare experience we provide to the people of Georgia,” Kaiser CEO Bernard Tyson said in a release.
