Revenue and customer growth did not translate into third-quarter profitability for Athenahealth, a provider of Web-based electronic health records, billing and practice management services, and software for office-based physicians.
The Watertown, Mass.-based company reported a third quarter loss of $1.63 million or $0.04 per share, according to its latest Securities and Exchange Commission filings.
The loss was greater than the $1.17 million loss ($0.03 per share) incurred during Q3 2013, despite revenues rising 26% to $190.4 million in this year's third quarter, compared with revenues of $151.5 million during the same period a year ago.
