Texas health officials have confirmed that the sheriff's deputy feared to have contracted Ebola from exposure to Thomas Eric Duncan's apartment has tested negative for the virus.
Dallas County Sheriff's Deputy Michael West Monnig was discharged from Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas Thursday afternoon after the Texas Department of State Health Services reported that a specimen the hospital submitted tested negative for the Ebola virus. Earlier in the day, the hospital said Monnig was in good condition, with no current symptoms consistent with the virus. Duncan, a Liberian man who traveled to Texas in late September, died at the same hospital Wednesday.
