Medical specialty information-technology company Nextech Systems has acquired MDIntelleSys, a provider of electronic health records for ophthalmologists. The purchase by Tampa-based Nextech doubles its ophthalmology market share. Terms were not disclosed.
Nextech calls itself the largest provider of specialty-specific EHRs. In addition to fully integrated electronic records, it offers practice management and marketing software solutions for specialty physician practices, and is backed by private-equity technology firm Francisco Partners, based in San Francisco.
