URMC and Noyes already have a service-line affiliation in which University of Rochester neurosurgeons and oncologists provide care for Noyes patients. URMC and Noyes also are part of Accountable Health Partners, a physician-led, risk-sharing collaborative that URMC created in 2013. The clinically integrated AHP has a shared-savings contract with health insurers Excellus Blue Cross and Blue Shield and MVP Health Care.
“Our healthcare system is changing rapidly toward a model that delivers improved health and outcomes while, at the same time producing efficiencies that drive down costs,” Noyes Health President Amy Pollard said in a statement. “We believe that affiliating with UR Medicine would help us create a model to achieve both of these goals in our community.”
A finalized deal is likely in 2015, pending regulatory approvals. URMC most recently acquired Thompson Health, Canandaigua, N.Y., in 2012.
The system also is getting a new CEO. Dr. Mark Taubman, 63, will take over the top spot Jan. 1, while continuing in his current role as dean of the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry.
