Florida hospital reports breach affecting 82,000 patients

Aventura (Fla.) Hospital and Medical Center has reported a data breach affecting the personal information of 82,601 people. The breach is reported to have occurred between Sept. 1, 2012, and June 9, 2014, and is believed to be the result of a vendor's employee improperly accessing patient information, including names, birth dates and Social Security numbers as part of an identity theft scheme.
