He was promoted in 2010 to executive vice president at Kaiser Permanente while retaining the CIO title.
At AIG, Fasano will oversee its global information technology systems and be responsible for data management and security; he will report to AIG President and CEO Peter Hancock, according to a release.
“Phil is a leader in the field of information technology and has an extensive track record of improving systems and data management while creating innovative solutions to complex issues at global companies,” Hancock said.
Fasano had been hired to oversee the completion of Kaiser’s massive multibillion-dollar rollout of an interoperable electronic health-record system after serving as CEO of Capital Sourcing Group, a McLean, Va., consultancy.
Prior to that, he served in multiple positions in the financial services sector, as CIO of Deutsche Financial Services, JPMorgan Chase & Co. and American Financial Group and as chief business information officer at Capitol One.
Fasano has an MBA from Long Island University and a bachelor’s in computer science from the New York Institute of Technology.
