Community health centers are slated to receive $295 million in federal funding in an effort to expand access to primary-care services to more than a million new patients. HHS Secretary Sylvia Mathews Burwell announced Friday that grants have been awarded to 1,195 health centers in every state, as well as the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, with a goal of adding more than 4,750 staff to help centers serve an additional 1.5 million new patients.
