Ascension Health has appointed Peter Leibold chief advocacy officer, a position that will make him the top lobbyist for the largest not-for-profit health system in the country.
Leibold, 51, will start his role Nov. 1. He will be based in St. Louis, Ascension's headquarters, but a spokesman said he will also spend time in Ascension's Washington office. Leibold's position will focus on state and federal policy matters.
Previously, Leibold was the CEO of the American Health Lawyers Association, the largest health-focused attorney association in the U.S., for the past 15 years. Prior to the AHLA, he was the top lawyer for the Catholic Health Association of the United States, and he also was the chief of staff for former U.S. Sen. John Danforth.
