Jim Skogsbergh, CEO of Downers Grove, Ill.-based Advocate Health Care, will be the next chair-elect of the American Hospital Association.
The AHA's board of trustees elected Skogsbergh, 56, to the role over the weekend. He will begin as board chairman in 2016.
Skogsbergh has led 11-hospital Advocate, the largest health system in Illinois, since 2001. Before Advocate, he was an executive vice president at West Des Moines-based Iowa Health System, now named UnityPoint Health.
James Hinton, CEO of Presbyterian Healthcare Services in Albuquerque, is the hospital group's board chair for this year. AHA's current chair-elect is Dr. Jonathan Perlin, chief medical officer of HCA who is acting as a special senior adviser to the Veterans Affairs Department acting secretary, Sloan Gibson.
