CHI rebrands insurance operations as Prominence Health

Catholic Health Initiatives, Englewood, Colo., announced it will operate its health plans and related services under the newly renamed subsidiary Prominence Health.

The company was formerly known as CollabHealth Managed Solutions, the system said in a news release.

The wholly owned for-profit subsidiary, formed in 2012, includes two health plans acquired by CHI since 2012: Soundpath Health, a Medicare Advantage company in Tacoma, Wash., and QualChoice, a Little Rock, Ark.-based commercial health insurer. The deals mark a major push into health insurance by CHI, one of the nation's largest hospital operators. CHI operates 93 hospitals across 18 states.

Prominence Health also will work with employers to act as a third-party administrator, according to the release, and market other services including analytics, benefits management, corporate wellness, occupational health and disease management.

CHI announced last month that it won state and federal approval to expand its Medicare Advantage operations to five states from one.
