Dr. Carolyn Clancy, the former longtime director of the federal Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, is now interim undersecretary for health at the Veterans Affairs Department.
Clancy, 60, joined the VA in August 2013 and has served as the VA's assistant deputy health undersecretary for quality, safety and value. She will lead efforts to expand veterans' access to medical care as well as reduce lengthy waiting lists for veterans seeking appointments.
An internist, Clancy was named AHRQ's director in February 2003 and was reappointed in October 2009. She first joined AHRQ in 1990 and previously served as director of its Center for Outcomes and Effectiveness Research.
