Dr. Scott Betzelos has been named chief patient safety officer at Inova Health System.
In addition, Inova appointed Betzelos chief medical officer at the Falls Church, Va.-based system's flagship facility, Inova Fairfax Hospital. In his roles, Betzelos, 51, who is board-certified in emergency medicine, will develop clinical integration strategies systemwide and oversee all care-delivery initiatives at the Fairfax campus. Inova operates five acute-care hospitals, a children's hospital and more than a dozen outpatient centers.
Betzelos previously served as chief quality officer of Presence Health Partners, a clinically integrated network within Chicago-based Presence Health.
Frank Corvino, president and CEO of Greenwich (Conn.) Hospital, will retire, effective Dec. 31.
He will also step down as executive VP of the hospital's parent organization, Yale New Haven (Conn.) Health System. Corvino, 65, has been with Greenwich Hospital since 1988, when he started as senior VP and COO. He was promoted to president and CEO in 1991 and oversaw the hospital's merger with Yale New Haven in 1998.
