Dr. Scott Betzelos has been named chief patient safety officer at Inova Health System.
In addition, Inova appointed Betzelos chief medical officer at the Falls Church, Va.-based system's flagship facility, Inova Fairfax Hospital. In his roles, Betzelos, who is board-certified in emergency medicine, will develop clinical integration strategies systemwide and oversee all care-delivery initiatives at the Fairfax campus.
Betzelos, 51, previously served as chief quality officer of Presence Health Partners, a clinically integrated network within Chicago-based Presence Health.
Inova operates five acute-care hospitals, one children's hospital and more than a dozen outpatient centers.
Betzelos' appointments were effective April 28 and announced late in May.
