Frank Corvino, president and CEO of Greenwich (Conn.) Hospital, will retire from his positions, effective Dec. 31.
He will also step down as executive VP of the hospital’s parent organization, Yale New Haven Health System. Corvino, 65, has been with Greenwich Hospital since 1988, when he started as senior VP and COO. He was promoted to president and CEO in 1991 and oversaw the 206-bed hospital’s merger with Yale New Haven in 1998.
Corvino plans to travel with his wife and spend time with his grandchildren, and he still will consult with the hospital and stay involved with the hospital’s philanthropic arm, Greenwich Hospital spokeswoman Dana Marnane said.
“While this was a very difficult decision for me and my family, I am leaving at a time when patient care and safety is at an all-time high, and the hospital is well-positioned for the future,” Corvino said in a statement.
Yale New Haven hopes to find a replacement for Corvino by the end of the year.
