Memorial Hermann Health System, Houston, broke ground this month on a multiphase $93 million expansion at its Sugar Land, Texas, campus.
Completion of phase one of the construction project is expected for the fall. It includes the addition of eight beds to the hospital's existing 18-bed emergency center, as well as a new surgical suite, an MRI machine and an advanced CT scanner.
The second phase includes construction of a second medical professional building and a six-story, 155,000-square-foot patient tower. The new spaces will include a larger nursery and neonatal ICU, more medical/surgical beds, expanded sports medicine and rehabilitation services, outpatient imaging, and four shelled operating rooms to allow for future growth. Construction of the new tower is set to begin early next year.
