Carle, an Urbana, Ill.-based health system, named Michael Sutter as its chief innovation officer and tasked him with developing partnerships and finding appropriate technology for the organization.
“Having an expert committed to evaluating technological advances will be vital for Carle,” John Snyder, the system's executive vice president and chief operating officer, said in a news release.
Most recently, Sutter was executive director of information technology at Carle, and has also served as the system's clinical director of Epic electronic health-record systems. He worked on creating the first electronic health record for Carle's physician practice, and also is a certified nurse anesthetist.
“As part of his new role, Sutter will focus on optimizing existing healthcare technologies, assessing new technologies, working with vendor partners to implement more advanced technologies, and continually evaluating how well the technology works,” the system said in its release.
