Mednax's anesthesiology division, established in 2007, now includes more than 1,950 anesthesia providers composed of more than 825 physicians and 1,125 anesthetists in Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.
“We chose to partner with American Anesthesiology to ensure that our group can continue to focus on patient care and outcomes in an increasingly competitive and complicated healthcare environment,” Dr. Scott Brosche, who will serve as the practice's medical director, said in a release. “The company's proven integration process ensures that we will have strong support in the areas of practice management, clinical quality initiatives, research and education, yet maintain clinical autonomy so we can do what we do best—take care of our patients.”
Mednax paid cash for the practice, according to the company release, but no other details were provided. For fiscal 2013, the company reported income of $280.5 million on $2.2 billion in revenue. At that time, it held $3 billion in assets.
