Gaylon Stockman has joined not-for-profit healthcare system Lifespan, Providence, R.I., as its chief information security officer.
Stockman, 51, comes to Lifespan from UnityPoint Health in Des Moines, Iowa, where he was corporate information security officer. He also taught as an adjunct professor at William Penn University, Oskaloosa, Iowa, with a focus on business leadership, programming, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 and information security.
In his new role at Lifespan, effective March 31, Stockman will direct development, implementation and oversight of the system's information technology security infrastructure.
“As a health system, we handle extremely sensitive information, so maintaining the highest standards of information security is essential and vital to what we do,” Carole Cotter, Lifespan senior vice president and chief information officer, said in a release. “Gaylon brings extensive experience in this area and will be an asset to our team.”
