Duke University School of Medicine, Durham, N.C., will have two new department chairs this summer—Dr. Richard O'Brien will chair the department of neurology and Dr. Ann Reed will chair the department of pediatrics.
O'Brien will join Duke on July 1 from Johns Hopkins Medical Center in Baltimore. There, he is professor of neurology, neuroscience and medicine; chair of the department of neurology at its Bayview campus; and also associate dean for research at Johns Hopkins Medicine.
Reed will begin her new position Aug. 1. She now serves as chair of the department of pediatric and adolescent medicine at Mayo Clinic, as well as interim director and physician-in-chief for its children's center in Rochester, Minn. Reed is also a professor of pediatrics and medicine at the Mayo Medical School and a consultant in the division of rheumatology for the departments of pediatric and adolescent medicine and internal medicine.
