NextGen CMO named to Electronic Health Records Association executive committee

The Electronic Health Record Association elected Dr. Sarah Corley, chief medical officer for NextGen Healthcare Information Systems, to serve on its executive committee.

The association, established in 2004 and represented by its executive committee, includes more than 40 companies that supply EHRs to physicians and hospitals throughout the country. The group brings together EHR leaders in a forum designed to work toward standards development, interoperability, certification, performance and quality measures and health IT legislation.

Corley, while working part time as a primary-care internist in Washington, also leads a team of NextGen Healthcare physicians on a daily basis to guide them in helping clients get the most benefit from health IT implementation. NextGen, a subsidiary of Quality Systems, provides ambulatory, inpatient and dental provider organizations with clinical, connectivity and financial products and services.

“This opportunity allows us to work with our vendor colleagues, policymakers and private organizations to help support and improve the quality and efficiency of healthcare through information technology,” Corley said in a news release. “As both a medical provider and chief medical officer of a leading EHR vendor, I am focused on ensuring that providers have access to the technology they need to meet the increased challenges brought about by healthcare reform. Now, more than ever, this means achieving improved outcomes for patients and greater operational efficiency for healthcare organizations.”
