McLaren Physician Hospital Organization is now McLaren Physician Partners, the result of a rebranding initiative that took effect March 1.
“This name change reflects our increased commitment to collaborate with physicians as partners to establish and follow evidence-based medicine and best practices that will improve clinical outcomes and reduce costs,” Dr. Michael McKenna, executive vice president and chief medical officer of McLaren Health Care, said in a news release. McLaren Physician Partners, Auburn Hills, Mich., is owned by Flint, Mich.-based McLaren Health Care Corp., with more than 1,500 physician members—including approximately 500 employed physicians and 1,000 independent doctors.
As a physician-hospital organization, McLaren Physician Partners works directly with managed-care plans and employers on behalf of its physician members to offer a full-service provider product under one agreement. The organization assists its members with contracting, medical management, electronic health records and other value-added services that include group health products and preferred pricing.
“We're seeing the healthcare model of fee-for-service evolve into a value proposition where payments and reimbursements are based on quality of care and outcomes, making it even more incumbent upon us as physicians to help develop processes to improve both patient care and control costs,” Dr. Lawrence Cowsill, senior medical director of McLaren Physician Partners, said in the release. “McLaren Physician Partners provides a business model that will allow us to realize added efficiency, improved healthcare outcomes and significant cost savings for patients.”
