Cone Health CEO Tim Rice announced that he will retire at the end of this year.
Rice, 59, initially joined Cone Health as a pharmacist nearly 36 years ago. Since then, he has held various leadership roles with the Greensboro, N.C.-based health system before being named president and CEO in 2004.
“Under his leadership, Cone Health has evolved from a local community hospital to a viable regional health network that is well positioned for the future of healthcare,” Deborah Hooper, Cone Health board of trustees chairperson, said in a news release. “Tim has been a tireless advocate for the patients we serve, and our community's healthcare is stronger for it.”
