EMHS names Thompson senior VP, CMO

EMHS, a hospital system based in Brewer, Maine, named Dr. Robert Thompson senior VP and chief medical officer.

Thompson, 54, is now chief quality and medical officer at Asante Health System, based in Medford, Ore. He will replace Dr. Erik Steele, who last year was named CMO at Akron, Ohio-based Summa Health.

EMHS operates eight hospitals, including Mercy Health System in Portland, Maine, which EMHS acquired last October.
