Wellmont Health announces executive appointments

Wellmont Health System announced that it has removed the temporary status of three of its interim presidents—Tim Attebery, Greg Neal and Fred Pelle.

Attebery is president of Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport, Tenn.; Greg Neal is president of Bristol (Tenn.) Regional Medical Center; and Fred Pelle is president of the community hospital division. That division includes Mountain View Regional Medical Center, Norton, Va.; Lonesome Pine Hospital, Big Stone Gap, Va.; Hawkins County Memorial Hospital, Rogersville, Tenn.; and Hancock County Hospital, Sneedville, Tenn.

“We are fortunate to have such outstanding leaders, who will build on our organization's regional strength and implement our vision to deliver the best healthcare anywhere,” Denny DeNarvaez, Wellmont's president and CEO, said in a news release. “Tim, Greg and Fred have impeccable credentials and have played key roles in establishing their hospitals as the go-to medical facilities for high-quality care.”

Before his appointment to Holston Valley, Attebery, 53, was Wellmont's VP of cardiovascular services. From 2007 to 2013, he served as administrative leader of the Wellmont CVA Heart Institute and the former Cardiovascular Associates practice. He is a 27-year healthcare veteran.

Neal, who has been with Wellmont for more than 20 years, previously served as Bristol Regional's COO. At the time Neal, 47, was named the hospital's interim president, he was serving as president of Wellmont's community hospital division.

And Pelle, 59, who has worked in healthcare for 30 years, most recently served as COO of Mountain View Regional, Lonesome Pine, Hawkins County Memorial and Hancock County.
