Cogent Healthcare, a Brentwood, Tenn.-based company that provides hospitalist and inpatient care-management services to hospitals, named Dr. Lakshmi Halasyamani its chief medical officer.
Effective Feb. 1, Halasyamani comes to Cogent Healthcare from St. Joseph Mercy Health System in Michigan, where she has been an attending physician since 2000. Halasyamani also served as CMO of St. Joseph Mercy Hospitals since 2011.
“After a national search that included several outstanding candidates, Lakshmi's extensive leadership experience in hospital medicine made her the clear choice for our CMO position,” Cogent Healthcare President and CEO Dean Weiland said in a news release. “Lakshmi shares our vision to address the rigors of healthcare reform through strong client partnerships and patient focused care, and I am certain she will be a significant contributor to our success as we pursue this strategic direction.”
Halasyamani replaces Dr. Ron Greeno, who moved into his new role as executive VP of strategy and innovation for Cogent Healthcare.
