Dr. Stuart Marcus named president and CEO of St. Vincent's Health Services, and other moves

Dr. Stuart Marcus has been named president and CEO of St. Vincent's Health Services, Bridgeport, Conn. The health system, a member of Ascension Health, includes St. Vincent's Medical Center, St. Vincent's College, St. Vincent's Special Needs Services and St. Vincent's Medical Center Foundation.

Marcus, 52, succeeds Susan Davis, who is transitioning to president and CEO of the Sacred Heart Health System in Pensacola, Fla., also a member of Ascension. Marcus had been president of St. Vincent's Medical Center since 2012 and previously served as senior VP, chief medical officer and chairman of oncology at the medical center. ...

Cleveland-based MetroHealth has promoted Craig Richmond to CFO.

Richmond, who previously served as the health system's VP of revenue cycle, has worked as its associate CFO since May 2013. MetroHealth's previous CFO, Jeff Rooney, a consultant, joined the health system on an interim basis in 2011 and left early last year.

Before joining MetroHealth, Richmond held leadership positions at Huron Healthcare, Ernst & Young and Arthur Andersen. ...

Dr. Richard Krugman, University of Colorado vice chancellor for health affairs and dean of the University of Colorado School of Medicine, is stepping down from his posts, asking the university to begin the search process to hire a successor.

Krugman, 71, whom the university terms the longest-serving dean of a U.S. medical school, became dean March 1, 1992, after serving as acting dean for 20 months. He completed his residency at the school in 1973 and, in 1981, became director of the C. Henry Kempe National Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Child Abuse and Neglect. Cleveland Clinic has announced new roles for two of its top executives. Dr. David Bronson, president of the organization's regional hospitals and family health centers, will become senior public policy and external affairs adviser. Dr. Brian Donley, VP of regional hospitals and chief of regional hospital medical affairs and quality, will assume Bronson's former job.

In his new role, Donley, 50, will lead the clinic's eight community hospitals and 16 family health centers. Bronson, 66, will work with the Cleveland Clinic's government affairs team on its lobbying efforts.

Harry Totonis, president and CEO of Surescripts, will step down in March, the Arlington, Va.-based national clinical network announced.

Totonis has been with Surescripts since 2008, shortly after its merger with RxHub, and led it through its acquisition of Kryptiq in 2012. ...

Teva Pharmaceutical Industries named Erez Vigodman president and CEO, less than three months after Dr. Jeremy Levin resigned from the Jerusalem-based drugmaker.

Vigodman, 54, has served as a Teva board member since 2009 and currently is president and CEO of Makhteshim Agan Industries, a Tel Aviv-based manufacturer of generic pesticides. His appointment is effective Feb. 11.

Teva Chairman Dr. Phillip Frost said in October that the company and Levin had taken different views about the direction of the company, which led to Levin's resignation. ...

Dr. Todd Hobbs has been named chief medical officer for drug and devicemaker Novo Nordisk in North America. In his new role, Hobbs will provide medical guidance in the clinical development and life-cycle management strategies for diabetes and obesity-related projects. Hobbs, 44, previously was director of medical affairs for all insulin products and devices for Denmark-based Novo Nordisk.
