Who: Douglas Hawthorne, 66
Retiring from: Texas Health Resources, based in Arlington, where he has served as CEO of the not-for-profit health system since it was founded in 1997. Hawthorne will step down from his role by year’s end.
Under his leadership: Led the consolidation of Presbyterian Healthcare Resources, Harris Methodist Health System and Arlington Memorial Hospital to form THR. The system, which posted $3.7 billion in operating revenue in fiscal 2012, includes 14 acute-care hospitals.
Previous roles: Began his career as an administrative resident at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas. Rose through the ranks to become president and CEO of Presbyterian Healthcare Resources, Dallas.
Service and recognition: Served on the board of trustees and executive committee of the American Hospital Association; served as board chairman at Premier healthcare alliance; named eight times to Modern Healthcare’s 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare; and received Modern Healthcare’s CEO IT Achievement Award in 2008.
