“Transparency is just exploding this year,” said Scott Decker, president of HealthSparq. “2013 was the year of getting ready for the healthcare exchanges, and in 2014, we're providing value-added tools for folks on the health plans.”
Financial details were not disclosed, but Decker said the companies will retain operations in Portland, Ore., where HealthSparq is based, and ClarusHealth's Lewisville, Texas, headquarters. HealthSparq also plans to hire an additional 50 employees. Between the two, they currently employ about 110 people.
“We had fairly similar toolsets, so what we'll be able to do is take the best features and functions of each,” Decker said.
The HealthSparq brand launched last January as part of Portland, Ore.-based Cambia Health Solutions.
