Cleveland-based MetroHealth has promoted Craig Richmond to its post of chief financial officer.
Richmond, who previously served as the health system's vice president of revenue cycle, has worked as its associate CFO since May 2013. MetroHealth's previous CFO, Jeff Rooney, a consultant, joined the health system on interim basis in 2011 and left early last year.
“I am very pleased to have Craig serve as our chief financial officer at this important time in MetroHealth's history,” said Dr. Akram Boutros, MetroHealth's president and CEO, in a news release. “Craig is a rising star whose experience will be invaluable as he leads MetroHealth to a position of financial strength.”
Credit rating agencies in recent years have taken dim views of MetroHealth because it had been peppered by executive turnover, particularly in the CFO role. Last August, for instance, Moody's cited the lack of a permanent CFO as one of the reasons for the negative outlook it assigned to the health system.
Prior to joining MetroHealth, Mr. Richmond held leadership positions at Huron Healthcare, Ernst & Young and Arthur Andersen. He earned his bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Delaware and is a certified public accountant.
