New role: Senior VP and COO at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, one of the six campuses of 2,262-bed New York-Presbyterian Hospital and an affiliate of Weill Cornell Medical College. He will oversee hospital operations, management and strategic direction.
Most recent employer: Since 2000, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he held several positions, among them: chief of cardiology, associate dean of healthcare entrepreneurship and executive director of the McAllister Heart Institute.
On his priorities: Delivering safe, high-quality care for patients, emphasizing outcomes and efficiency. “So much of hospital management is focused on bottom-line finances,” he says.
