Wilson (N.C.) Medical Center is on track to become the latest partner of Duke LifePoint Healthcare.
The two organizations announced an agreement to form a joint venture that will inject $120 million in capital investments to Wilson Medical Center during the next 10 years. Though Duke LifePoint will own 80% of the venture, and Wilson Medical Center and the local community will own 20%, the two will split governance equally through a 10-member board.
“Wilson and Duke LifePoint are united on several important issues including a dedication to quality care, a commitment to our employees and medical staff, and an understanding of the importance of local involvement in the future of our hospital,” Rick Hudson, Wilson Medical Center president and CEO, said in a release.
In addition to operating Marquette (Mich.) General Health System, Twin County Regional Healthcare in Galax, Va., and DLP Cardiac Partners in Charlotte, N.C., Duke LifePoint already operates two hospitals in North Carolina—Maria Parham Medical Center in Henderson and Person Memorial Hospital in Roxboro—and in September signed an agreement to form a joint venture with Rutherford (N.C.) Regional Medical Center. Duke LifePoint also has signed memoranda of understanding to acquire WestCare Health System in Sylva, N.C., and Haywood Regional Medical Center in Clyde, N.C.
Duke LifePoint Healthcare is a joint venture established in 2011 by Durham, N.C.-based Duke University Health System and LifePoint Hospitals in Brentwood, Tenn.
