Former Stryker Corp. executive Stephen MacMillan was named president and CEO of Hologic, a Bedford, Mass.-based company that develops and manufactures medical imaging systems for women's health.
MacMillan, 50, resigned in February 2012 from Kalamazoo, Mich.-based medical-device manufacturer Stryker. He joined the company in 2003 as president and COO. He became CEO in 2005 and chairman in 2010.
At Hologic he succeeds Jack Cumming, who had been the company's top executive from 2001-2009 and returned in July upon the departure of Robert Cascella, who resigned for personal reasons.
"The board unanimously concluded that his track record of delivering strong financial results and creating shareholder value makes him the ideal chief executive officer for Hologic,” David LaVance, Jr., the company's board chairman, said in a news release.
