UC Health in Cincinnati named Dr. Richard Lofgren president and CEO, effective Dec. 2.
Lofgren will assume the leadership role when James Kingsbury retires next month.
Lofgren, 59, is a board-certified internal medicine physician and healthcare administrator who most recently served as senior VP and chief clinical officer for the University HealthSystem Consortium in Chicago.
“(Rick's) unique background—a blend of both the practice and teaching of medicine in an academic medical center and senior, executive-level administrative experience in the same—will further help to distinguish and differentiate UC Health in this market; reinforce that our health system has the best to offer in clinical care; and prepare us to take on the challenges of healthcare in the future,” UC Health Board Chair Margaret Buchanan said in a news release.
The University of Cincinnati established UC Health in 2010 when membership in the Health Alliance of Greater Cincinnati dissolved. UC Health operates four hospitals, including University Hospital in Cincinnati, which is part of the University HealthSystem Consortium.
