Convening for the first time since September because of the government shutdown, the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission plans to look at how Medicare's different delivery system options—including traditional fee-for- service, accountable care organizations and Medicare Advantage—relate to one another and how they should be “synchronized.” MedPAC, meeting in Washington Nov. 7-8, also plans to address improving payment for chronically ill patients in hospital settings and rationalizing payment for post-acute care.
