City of Hope, a comprehensive cancer center in Duarte, Calif., has chosen Dr. Steven Rosen as its first provost and chief scientific officer.
Rosen, 61, is currently director of the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago. City of Hope and the center at Feinberg are two of 41 facilities to achieve the National Cancer Institute's designation as a comprehensive cancer center.
“Dr. Rosen's experience and vision will create the environment necessary to accelerate the pace of meaningful discoveries that extend both quality and length of life,” City of Hope President and future CEO Robert Stone said in a news release.
Stone was recently appointed to the CEO position, and is scheduled to take over the role from Dr. Michael Friedman, who is retiring at the end of the year. Rosen's duties will become effective March 1.
