Baptist Health Care President and CEO Mark Faulkner released a statement in response to the news of Vermillion's drowning, expressing shock and sadness. “Kerry Vermillion's dedication to this organization and our community serves as a great example for what it means to be a remarkable person, as well as a great leader,” Faulkner said. “He was a dear friend and respected colleague.”
Vermillion joined Baptist Health Care Corp., which owns three hospitals in Florida and one in Alabama, in 2008. He came to the system from Mountain States Health Alliance in Johnson City, Tenn., where he served as VP and CFO since 2001, after previously holding financial leadership positions with Baptist Health Systems in Birmingham, Ala.
