The choice for the next chairman of the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives represents a major new programming thrust for CHIME -- how to help small and mid-sized hospitals ramp up their efforts in deploying the latest information technologies to achieve the next phase in meaningful use payments. Randy McCleese, the CIO of St. Clair Regional Medical Center in Moorehead, Ky., represents that group. His small hospital (100 staffed beds) is representative of that group. Modern Healthcare editor Merrill Goozner caught up with McCleese just before CHIME's annual Fall Forum kicked off and asked him how the organization planned to help these facilities meet their burgeoning IT needs.
