A national search was conducted to identify a successor for Keathley, with Reich as a candidate, according to a news release. “He has provided exceptional leadership during his interim period, engineering creative solutions to relieve overcrowding in the emergency department, improving utilization of our operating rooms, and initiating design and construction projects to improve our capacity to deliver quaternary care and improve our infrastructure,” said Dr. Kenneth Davis, president and CEO of the hospital's parent, Mount Sinai Health System, in the release.
Reich completed a residency in anesthesia and a fellowship in cardiothoracic anesthesia at Mount Sinai Hospital. He has been chair of the hospital's anesthesiology department since 2004.
Last week, Mount Sinai completed a merger with Continuum Health Partners.
