Dr. Patrick Conway was named deputy administrator for innovation and quality at the CMS and director of the CMS Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation. Conway served in the director position on an interim basis after the departure of Dr. Richard Gilfillan. Conway, who joined the CMS in May 2011, will retain his roles as director of the agency's Center for Clinical Standards and Quality and chief medical officer.

St. Luke's Episcopal Health System President and CEO David Fine will become president of a national research institute operated by Catholic Health Initiatives, which recently acquired Houston-based St. Luke's from the Episcopal Diocese of Texas. The institute, founded in 2007, includes a team of experts in research and innovation, business development, information technology, finance, compliance and legal matters.
Dr. Cliff Robertson, COO of CHI's Franciscan Health System, Tacoma, Wash., will step in as interim CEO at St. Luke's.
