What it does: Health Systems International provides medical cost-management services to healthcare payer organizations.
How it grew to become one of healthcare's hottest:More than 25 years after its founding, Health Systems International continues to post strong growth. It had compounded annual growth of nearly 36% during the past five years.
Part of that is related to strategic acquisitions. Since 2007, the company has made eight other acquisitions that have provided HSI with greater access to markets, additional clients, improved technology and enhanced opportunities for efficiencies and cost savings, according to HSI.
And as cost management becomes increasingly complex for payers, including the 400 clients HSI already serves, new CEO Scott Mingee—he joined the company in April—sees continued opportunity for growth.
