Adventist Health President and CEO Robert Carmen will retire April 1, 2014, after 44 years with the Roseville, Calif.-based health system. Carmen, 67, has served as president and CEO since October 2007. The board expects to reach a decision on his successor by the end of the year. Before becoming CEO, Carmen was the system's executive VP/COO for eight years. He joined Adventist as an occupational therapist. … Health Management Associates Executive VP and CFO Kelly Curry stepped down, and Gary Bryant was installed as interim CFO. Bryant, 43, has been HMA's senior VP and controller since April. Curry, 58, who had been CFO since 2010, ended his employment with the Naples, Fla.-based hospital chain effective Sept. 13. Kerrin Gillespie resigned from his role as senior VP, finance, also effective Sept. 13.

Karen Drenkard will join GetWellNetwork on Jan. 1 as chief clinical/nursing officer, a new position at the patient-engagement technology company. Drenkard, 55, currently is executive director of the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She assumed leadership of the American Nurses Credentialing Center in 2011 and has been with the organization since 2008.
