AAMC names new CIO, chief learning officer

The Association of American Medical Colleges has added two leaders to its team—Diana Bourke as CIO and Constance Filling as chief learning officer.

Bourke will continue the organization's work on a long-term information technology strategic plan and governance process when she takes over the role of CIO this month from Jeanne Mella, who is retiring after 14 years with the AAMC. Bourke joins the AAMC from LifeCare, a company that provides work life and personal assistance services, where she most recently served as senior VP of operations and technology.

Filling's position as chief learning officer is a new one for the association. Her responsibilities will include leading the AAMC's new learning unit and developing an overall strategy for achieving its vision and mission for medical schools and hospitals through learning. Filling's previous role was as chief education officer of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

“More than ever, supporting the missions of the nation's medical schools and teaching hospitals requires that the AAMC have a strong information technology capability to support the expanding portfolio of services and programs that we provide for our members, including more extensive and vibrant learning and leadership development offerings,” AAMC President and CEO Dr. Darrell Kirch said in a news release. “Both Ms. Bourke and Ms. Filling bring to the AAMC a wealth of expertise and strategic vision in their respective areas, and we are thrilled to have them join our leadership team.”

Their ages were not immediately available.
