Rhode Island Hospital named Dr. Latha Sivaprasad senior VP and chief medical officer, effective Sept. 1.
Sivaprasad, 38, succeeds Dr. John Murphy in the role. Murphy, 62, is now executive VP for physician affairs for Lifespan, the Rhode Island health system of which the hospital is a founding partner. As senior VP and CMO, Sivaprasad is responsible for graduate medical education and medical staff affairs at the Providence, R.I., hospital, in addition to playing a role in improving the quality, safety, effectiveness and efficiency of its healthcare delivery. As an internal medicine physician, she is also expected to serve as a physician voice concerning medical staff growth, educational program structure, clinical program development and broader academic medical center priorities.
