Quality Systems acquires Mirth Corp.

NextGen Healthcare parent Quality Systems has acquired Mirth Corp., a Costa Mesa, Calif.-based health information technology company that helps clients achieve interoperability across data systems.

Quality Systems, also known as QSI, said in a news release that the company picked up Mirth because accountable care organizations and other value-based delivery models that are taking hold require “analytics based on aggregated, vendor agnostic data” and “Mirth's solutions play a leading role in this effort.”

“Our shared vision is a game-changing product platform that enables clients to quickly assemble and link components that inform and transform clinical processes, taking care management and delivery to the next level,” Mirth President Jon Teichrow said in a news release (PDF).

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Irvine, Calif.-based Quality Systems said it will retain the Mirth brand identity, office and team. Quality Systems will continue to market Mirth's products and services while integrating them into the NextGen platform.

“The acquisition of Mirth will further strengthen QSI's capabilities across the board, based on the new level of data integration and migration functionality it brings us,” QSI President and CEO Steven Plochocki said in the release. “We intend to expand our client base and position the company for continued growth, particularly within both the connectivity and EHR replacement markets, as we work to meet the needs of hospitals and physicians as well as their patients.”
