If someone asks Federation of American Hospitals President and CEO Chip Kahn what happened during his summer vacation, he can say he had a fowl time.
Kahn recently spent his August vacation in Great Britain, including a stop at Chartwell, former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill's home in Kent, England. While strolling the grounds, Kahn came across a black swan that didn't seem to like it when he took out his camera to take a photo. Instead, the swan raised its wings up and started chasing Kahn across the grounds, getting so far as to take a bite out of one of his pants' pockets.
Luckily, Kahn's wife, JoAnn Willis, was right there to capture the “attack” in progress. “Rather than coming to my aid, she was running and taking pictures” of the encounter, he says. Luckily for Kahn, although the swan ruffled his feathers, he jokes about it now. “I don't want to be attacked by a swan again, but I wasn't really that traumatized.”
