Seiden named CMO of McKesson division, oncology group

McKesson Specialty Health and the US Oncology Network in the Woodlands, Texas, have named Dr. Michael Seiden chief medical officer, effective Sept. 22.

In his new role, Seiden will guide the clinical strategy of McKesson Specialty Health, while providing physicians in the US Oncology Network with clinical, research, business and operational assistance to improve their delivery of quality, evidence-based care. The US Oncology Network, an integrated group of community-based oncology practices, is supported by McKesson Specialty Health, which is part of McKesson Corp.

“Dr. Seiden's distinguished track record and extensive experience across patient care, research and operations makes him uniquely qualified to lead our organization's clinical and physician engagement strategy,” Marc Owen, president of McKesson Specialty Health, said in a news release.

Seiden has been a practicing oncologist for more than two decades and most recently served as president and CEO of Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia, which merged with Temple University Health System last year. His age was not immediately available.

“His experience as a practicing oncologist and in running a major cancer center will complement the existing leadership team and ensure that a physician's perspective is contemplated in all decisions,” Owen said in the release.
