Nashville-based hospital chain HCA has hired Dr. Jim Jirjis as chief health information officer.
Jirjis, an internal medicine physician, has most recently been serving as Vanderbilt University Medical Center's chief medical information officer. His departure from that position is effective Aug. 23.
Jirjis, whose age was not immediately available, was also a lead developer of the medical center's MyHealthatVanderbilt Patient Web Portal, its electronic medical records system, and an automated clinical note communication system for Vanderbilt's physicians. He has also been an assistant professor in Vanderbilt's department of biomedical informatics.
